There are some tips you have to know about how to add Cummins inline 5 two connections protocol-J1939 and protocol-J1708.
add new protocol-J1939 and J1708: bellow ECM connection wizard, choose the second option: Data communications interface adapter, and select Data communication interface protocol-J1939; finish ECM connection wizard-select the second option: want to set
another connection, please choose me then click Finish, now you are ready to set J1708 protocol, and repeat the same way as you did for protocol-J1939.
Now both protocol-J1939 and protocol-J1708 two connections are added.

1. Install OEM Software
Must first install the OEM software! Depending on
Your product configuration, option to install:
TIS Techstream
HONDA Diagnostic System
VIDA2008C
2. Install VCX32 Driver
This step Must be followed after step one
1)To install VCX32 Driver as follows:
Double-click VCX32 Driver Install.exe, click NEXT.

2)Read License agreement and select accept the terms of the License agreement, click NEXT.
3)Input user information, click NEXT

4)Select type of installation:completed Install, click NEXT
5)Ready to install, click NEXT to stat.
6)Installing……
7)Display VCX USB Driver Installation Wizard, click NEXT
8)Driver Installing……Driver Installation finished, click Finish
9)All Installation complete, click Finish
3. Install OEMSetup
Depending on your product configuration, option to install the support driver for OEM: Start->Program->ALLScanner->VCX32-OEMSetup
4. Connect Hardware
Need to connect hardware exactly before diagnosing: PC-usb cable-VCX-DTC cable-truck.
VCX obtain power from vehicle through DLC cable. The LED will flash in turn after hardware proper connection. Power Led keep on. VCX connect with PC through USB cable.
5. Install VCX USB Driver
1) Connect VCX USB cable to PC by the first time, it will hint that new hardware was found, please refer to the following: Display Found New hardware wizard, Select No, not this time, click NEXT.
2) Select Install the software automatically, click NEXT
3) Click Continue Anyway
4) New hardware wizard completed, click Finish. Found new hardware wizard, will be displayed again, operation is same as above.
6. Test VCX Connection
Please confirm the following before connection
testing:
-Connect hardware according to section 4.1
-Install USB Driver according to section 4.2
Double-click DeviceConfig on the desktop.
1)Select the Connect page.
2)Click Connect

7. Activate VCX Device
1) Connect hardware, Open DeviceConfig
2)Display as above Fig, it shows device was not activated. Click OK, And Click Connect.

3) Select the Device Activate page, Please record Device SN and Active Code, provide them to dealer for License (Activation file)
4) After receiving License file, click Select License to select this file.
5) Click Activate, Display the Device is activated, it shows Activation successful. ClickOK
8. Configure Wi-Fi network
1) Please confirm the following before using:
- Use only the wireless router included in the package
- 802.11a/b/g wireless card needed for Laptop Connect VCX to Vehicle and get power from it. Turn on the wireless router.
First, Make Laptop to connect to the wireless network:
Net Name(SSID):DIAG-WIFI
Connect KEY:1234512345

2)Open DeviceConfig, Select the WiFi Configure page, and Select WiFi. Then click Scan WiFi.
3)After a successful scan, it will list all devices with IP. Then select the IP of device, and click Connect to connect with Device.
4)Warning Any changes to the wireless router would cause the device to not work.

Caterpillar produces a large variety of construction equipment, such as trucks, bulldozers and high speed diesel engines. While conducting maintenance on these engines, diagnostics are conducted using a computer program that electronically checks the engine. Running a diagnostic program on an engine takes the guesswork out of determining what issues need to be addressed.

 

Computer

Running your diagnostic program requires a computer. Some manufacturers of diagnostic tools offer laptops that are preloaded with diagnostic software. However, any computer that meets the minimum requirements of a Pentium 1.8 G processor, 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB free space on the hard drive, and a Windows 2000 or XP operating system.

 

Software

The diagnostic software required is the Caterpillar Electronic Technician, also known as CAT ET. This software communicates with the engine and can retrieve information concerning mileage on the engine, amount of fuel used and other important data. The software is also useful for calibrating the engine.

 

Computer Interface

To run the software there must be a computer interface between your computer and the engine. The interface consists of a data link cable and communicator box which translates the signals from the engine to data understandable by the computer.

Q: cummins calterm can someone please help me with a program called cummins calterm,or at least help me out on how to calibrate a ECM after changing the eprom 28c64,the unit fails to communicate with the the cummins insite when i try to put in the new program by the way this is a celect plus ECM

A: Cummins Insite will only communicate with a calibrated ECM, an uncalibrated ECM will bring up a prompt for the user to install a calibration. With a new chip, the ECM will probably be “seeded”, it needs the base file installed so that Insite will recognize it as a blank “ROM booted” ECM. To use Calterm, you need to obtain the “E2M” or “ECFG” file for the calibration you are using, these files have the ECM memory locations for the several thousand differenet parameters that make up an ECM calibration. Calterm uses a different security than Insite, I doubt anyone has cracked it, I have not seen a keygen, or anyone offering registration codes Renesis Most features can be enabled and disabled using Insite, search the forums, you can get the software and register it, you just need the laptop and cables and inline adaptor. if the feature cannot be disabled using Insite – there is a good reason for it

Q: how can I obtain the “E2M” or “ECFG” file for the calibration? Is it possible to extract them from the Incal DVD, or from the ECM itself? I could not find anyway to get these files. W/o them, my Calterm is basically useless.

A: You need to know someone who works for a Cummins Distributor, only a few Dealers have it, they are the only people who use Calterm. Early engines Celect, C Plus, ISM QSB VP44 and QSK use E2M files, engines after Common Rail ISBe use ECFG files. These files are not contained within the Insite calibration file as far as I know
